The African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS), hosted at the University of Rwanda's College of Education (UR-CE), Rukara Campus, recently held a special farewell ceremony to celebrate the successful completion of a 12-month sabbatical leave by Assoc. Prof. Olayemi Aderokun ASAAJU.

Assoc. Prof. ASAAJU, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, Nigeria, joined ACEITLMS in June 2025 as a Guest Professor. Throughout her one-year tenure, she made significant contributions to the Centre's academic and research agenda by mentoring postgraduate students, supporting curriculum development, and strengthening collaborative research initiatives.The farewell ceremony brought together academic leaders, faculty members, and administrative staff to recognize her outstanding service and celebrate the impact she made during her stay.

Speaking at the event, ACEITLMS Director Prof. Jean Uwamahoro praised Assoc. Prof. ASAAJU's commitment to academic excellence and her lasting contributions to the Centre. "Assoc. Prof. Olayemi Aderokun ASAAJU has been an invaluable member of the ACEITLMS community. Over the past year, she has shared her expertise generously, mentored our postgraduate students with dedication, and contributed significantly to strengthening our academic and research capacity”, he said. He added, “Her sabbatical has demonstrated the value of international academic collaboration, and we are grateful for the lasting impact she has made. We look forward to sustaining this partnership with Adeyemi Federal University of Education for the mutual advancement of teaching, research, and innovation. During her sabbatical, Assoc. Prof. ASAAJU worked closely with faculty and students, contributing to knowledge exchange and fostering a vibrant academic environment. Her engagement further strengthened the Centre's commitment to building regional and international partnerships that promote excellence in mathematics and science education.

As she returns to Nigeria, the ACEITLMS community extends its heartfelt appreciation for her dedication and wishes her continued success in her academic career. The Centre remains confident that the collaboration established during her sabbatical will continue to strengthen institutional ties between the University of Rwanda and Adeyemi Federal University of Education, creating new opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, and innovation.
