Bio – Edwin Byusa, PhD
Dr. Edwin Byusa is a seasoned and highly accomplished African development leader with over 20 years of experience advancing evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM), policy reform, and capacity development across the continent. His work bridges sectors including education, child protection, digital transformation, and governance, always emphasising inclusive, data-driven approaches.

He is widely published and has a portfolio of high-impact, peer-reviewed research addressing critical issues in education, evidence use, and community development. His publications have contributed to shaping policies and improving practices in classrooms and institutions. As a reviewer for SCOPUS-indexed journals, Dr. Byusa actively contributes to maintaining academic standards and advancing the global body of knowledge from an African perspective.

He has successfully led strategic planning and program delivery for child-centred development initiatives, enhancing community accountability systems and building local capacity in planning, monitoring, evaluation, learning, accountability and fundraising. His leadership contributed to scaling impactful Early Childhood Development and Child Protection models in alignment with national priorities and global frameworks

As the monitoring and evaluation consultant, Dr. Byusa spearheaded systems design to support digital transformation in all African countries. He also served as an education consultant, where he helped shape inclusive education strategies and advance system-level changes through evidence-based reforms. Through his work, he conducted country-level mapping of education and skills data ecosystems, identifying institutional strengths, gaps, and opportunities for harmonisation and capacity-building.

Dr. Byusa is widely respected for his regional expertise, having worked across East, West, Central, and North Africa. He has collaborated with ministries, development agencies, and civil society organisations to promote EIDM, strengthen PMEAL (Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning), data and data use, statistical and performance systems, and improve policy outcomes. He holds a PhD in Science Education and is completing an Executive MBA in Global Business and Sustainability. The Africa Evidence Network named him Runner-up of the Africa Evidence Leadership Award 2024 (Evidence User category), a testimony of his unwavering commitment to promoting Africa-led, evidence-based change.

He is deeply committed to amplifying Africa's leadership in global evidence communities and fostering collaboration and trust within EIDM ecosystems across the East African region and beyond.

Dr. Josephat Paul NKAIZIRWA is a dedicated academician and educational consultant with over 15 years of experience in higher education, currently serving as a faculty member at the University of Dodoma, Tanzania. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology Education from the University of Rwanda. His Ph.D. research focused on the effectiveness of outdoor learning activities in promoting inquiry-based learning among pre-service biology teachers selected teacher colleges in Tanzania.

In addition to his Ph.D., Dr. Josephat Paul NKAIZIRWA holds a Master of Education in Science Education and a Bachelor of Science with Education (Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam. His work spans multiple fields, including teacher education, early childhood education, refugees, health, science education, and environmental psychology. He has authored numerous articles using both quantitative and qualitative research methods to inform decision-making.
Dr. Josephat Paul NKAIZIRWA has contributed to various international and local research projects funded by organizations such as UNICEF, the World Bank, USAID, Global Affairs Canada (GAC)/Alinea International, Right to Play, SPDER and others. His roles have included developing curriculum materials, teacher-training guides, and evaluating education and health projects across Tanzania. He is also an experienced consultant in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), providing consulting services for government projects and collaborating with organizations like GAC/Alinea International, USAID, and Genesis Analytics.

Skilled in data management and analysis, Dr. Josephat Paul NKAIZIRWA uses tools like SPSS and Excel for impact and performance evaluation, including the application of EGMA, EGRA, IDELA, and SEL models. His expertise has contributed to large-scale projects aimed at improving educational and social outcomes in Tanzania and beyond.
Fluent in English and Swahili, with proficiency in Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, and basic French, Dr. Josephat Paul NKAIZIRWA continues to make significant contributions to research and policy development, particularly in education and environmental sustainability. He is also interested in researching topics such as multicultural behaviors in environmental protection and conservation, as well as the contribution of indigenous knowledge to scientific and community-based research in Africa.

Dr. Kizito NDIHOKUBWAYO is an accomplished researcher and educator specializing in Physics Education Research (PER). He holds a PhD from the University of Rwanda through the African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS), which he earned in 2021. He also holds a Master’s in Educational Development and Science Education from Hiroshima University, Japan (2016) and a Bachelor’s in Physics with Education from the former Kigali Institute of Education (2011).

With a wealth of experience spanning research, teaching, and consultancy, Dr. Ndihokubwayo served as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Texas State University and Iowa State University in 2023, contributing to the STEM Equity Project and the LASSO Tool initiative. His research has garnered over 850 citations, with an h-index of 16 and an i10-index of 25, since 2017.

His areas of expertise include active learning, ICT integration in education, classroom observation protocols, data analysis, and innovative teaching strategies using PhET simulations. He has collaborated on projects with organizations such as JICA, the World Bank, and the Rwanda Basic Education Board.

Dr. NDIHOKUBWAYO currently works as a Publishing Editor at Parabolum Publishing Inc.—a platform he founded in September 2022—overseeing academic publishing and editorial operations. The platform is missioned to promote quality, guidance-focused, and timely publishing services, aiming to counsel and support researchers rather than subject them to undue criticism. His passion for improving STEM education is reflected in his extensive teaching, research, and consultancy work across the globe, with a commitment to fostering a more supportive, efficient, and ethical publishing environment.
