Students’ enrolment

From 2017/2018 up to now, the Centre has enrolled 54 students in PhD programmes (by Research in Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Mathematics Education, Physics Education) and 228 students in MEd programmes (Master of Education in Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Mathematics Education, Physics Education)

Among 54 PhD students, 3 PhD students have graduated, 12 students have successfully defended their theses and in 228 MEd students, 89 students graduated, 22 have have successfully defended their theses

Research Publication

For the implementation of its mission of strengthening human capacity to deliver research-based quality teaching and learning of mathematics and science, ACEITLMS students and associate members published 268 research papers in different international journals, since its establishment, and among them, 145 were published in journals indexed by Scopus. During the last year 2022, 119 papers were published and 65 of them were published in journals indexed by Scopus.

Programme Development

The Centre has developed 4 PhD programmes (by Research in Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Mathematics Education, Physics Education) and 4 Master of Education programmes (Master of Education in Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Mathematics Education, Physics Education).

The Centre has developed 2 Continous Professional Development (CPD): (i) Innovative Teaching Mathematics and Science (CPD-ITMS) where more than 1000 school teachers across the country are taking the program, (ii) InnovativePedagogical approaches using instructional technologies for teaching where 161 teachers have graduated and 24% of them were regional teachers.

Training and workshops

  • Two Workshop (One for PhD students and the staff and another for Masters students) on Proposal writing, Research methods and Academic writing were conducted by Dr Peter Samuels, from Birmingham City University, UK
  • Two Workshops (one for academic staff and another for PG students) were organized on Innovative pedagogical approaches in learning and assessment through the use of Instructional Technologies.
  • Two Workshops (one for PhD students and another for Masters students) were organized on Data collection using new technologies and data analysis using statistical software
  • Organization of PhET Workshop for staff on pedagogical training on the use of simulation in collaboration with the University of Colorado.
