His work bridges sectors including education, child protection, digital transformation, and governance, always emphasising inclusive, data-driven approaches.

He is widely published and has a portfolio of high-impact, peer-reviewed research addressing critical issues in education, evidence use, and community development. Dr. Agnes Mbonyiryivuze


Dr. Agnes Mbonyiryivuze (PhD in Physics Education) is an experienced educator and researcher dedicated to enhancing the quality of Science Education in Rwanda. As a former HoD of Education at East African University Rwanda and a Lecturer of Physics, currently, Dr. Mbonyiryivuze is serving as a Lecturer at the University of Kigali and University of Medical Science and Technology (UMST), Rwanda. Dr. Mbonyiryivuze holds PhD degree in Physics Education from University of Rwanda-College of Education (UR-CE) under the African Center of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS).

She holds a Master degree in Physics from University of South Africa (UNISA) and a Bachelor (Hons) in Physics with Education and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from by Kigali Institute of Education currently University of Rwanda-College of Education.

The ACEITLMS run 4 Masters of Education programmes in Mathematics and Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), all of which are internationally accredited since January 2026

PhD Programmes

Since 2017, ACEITLMS run 4 PhD by research programmes in Mathematics Education and Sciences (Chemisry, Biology, Physics) Education. All the four PhD programmes are internationally accredited beginning January 2026.

CPD Program
CPD Program

Additional to running post-graduate programmes, ACEITLMS has also developed and is implementing a Continuous Professional Development Programme on Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (CPD-ITLMS). This CPD programme is for in-Service Mathematics and Sciences in primary and secondary schools. During the past 6-years, over 3,500 teachers from Rwanda and the region completed the programme.

At ACEITLMS, we are passionate about developing innovative teaching methodologies, fostering research in mathematics and science education, and preparing the next generation of STEM educators and leaders. We believe that strong foundations in these disciplines are essential for Africa's progress, and we are committed to providing you with the resources and support you need to excel. The Centre run 4 PhD and 4 Masters which since January 2026, earned an International accreditation. ACEITLMS is open to national, regional and international collaboration and partnership. We welcome all of you and we encourage you to fully engage with us in this exciting journey of learning and discovery. Together, we can transform STEM education and empower future generations to solve the challenges facing our continent.
